The Sensation™ detection platform is based on Nanōmix’s proprietary carbon nanotube networks. With one or more individually addressable detection elements, each tiny detector chip is capable of being independently functionalized to detect a specific analyte. The unique properties of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and Nanōmix’s proprietary manufacturing techniques create a device with low power consumption, small size, and high sensitivity — the ideal platform for handheld and point-of-care detection products. Additionally, the Sensation platform is flexible enough for use on more mature technologies and in existing diagnostic platforms.

Because Sensation utilizes random networks of carbon nanotubes instead of individually manipulated nanostructures, it benefits from manufacturing scalability—over a million detection chips have been manufactured to date. The detection devices work by monitoring the changes in the electronic characteristics of the device as it interacts with the analyte of choice. The carbon nanotube networks are coated or "functionalized" with different recognition chemistries to induce the proper performance characteristics such as specificity, sensitivity, dynamic range, and more.
