Senior Embedded Software Engineer

Nanomix is the leader in the development of mobile, affordable point-of-care diagnostics, offering a handheld testing platform and assays that provide rapid, accurate, quantitative information for use in settings where time-to-diagnosis is critical for clinical decision-making and improved patient care. Our goal is to expand access to quality healthcare by bringing diagnostics to the point of initial patient interaction, whether in the hospital or in pre-hospital, remote, or alternative settings. Nanomix has tests for the diagnosis of sepsis and COVID-19 and has plans to expand to other critical diagnostics. This is an opportunity to work with a world class team to deliver an advanced, mobile medical diagnostic platform of urgent need to the healthcare industry.

The eLab system is portable medical device that performs fully-automated in vitro diagnostic assays, including sample processing and signal detection, producing laboratory-quality results. The system consists of a handheld analyzer and single-use disposable cartridge that performs the diagnostic assay.

About the Job

Work with assay development and engineering teams to support and expand all aspects of software technology for the eLab product.

Apply your programming skills to a wide variety of tasks making a product that really matters:

  • On the analyzer: embedded Linux platform, C++ firmware, Qt GUI, Python scripts to control the assay cartridge
  • On the PC: configuration and data acquisition applications in C#, plus a bit of SQL on the side to support gathering and reporting information for process improvement
  • On mobile devices: data sharing and display apps for Android/iOS
  • On our manufacturing floor: custom programming for Dobot robot arm work cells, Dispense Works automated dispense system, future automation projects

Follow approved software development standards to achieve high quality software that complies with applicable regulations.

Develop and support software quality assurance testing.

About You

  • Flexible, smart, skilled software developer
  • Comfortable with a wide range of platforms and languages
  • Enjoy picking up a project and running with it
  • Enjoy working in a collaborative, cross-disciplinary team environment
  • Legally able to work in US
  • Best case, you are located in the San Francisco Bay Area. After on-site training, it is possible this role could be primarily remote, but you would need to visit the office on a periodic basis.

Minimum Qualifications

Degree in CS or related field with 3+ years of experience as a professional programmer.

Experience with medical devices or another biotech field strongly preferred.

Professional experience with at least 3 of the following technologies:

  • UNIX
  • Python
  • C#
  • C++
  • Qt
  • SQL
  • Excel/VBA
  • Java
